The mission of the Senior Resource Center for Douglas County is to provide resources, services, opportunities, and advocacy that enhance the quality of the second half of life. We at Gentiva Hospice are looking for Volunteers who want to make a difference in the lives of others by providing companionship at a patient’s bedside in their home or at a retirement community. Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging
The mission of JAAA – to make it easier for older persons to live independently in the comfort of their own surroundings – is not only cost effective, is the preferred choice for hundreds of older adults in Shawnee, Jefferson and Douglas Counties. Primrose Retirement Community
Primrose Retirement Community is an older adult that provides independent living, assisted living, and townhouse villas for the members. Purple Pals comes monthly and does an event like Speed “Friending”, “Singo” or just having dinner with them. We value staying apart of our community.
The Life Center
The Life Center is a resource for caregivers in the community and an engaging program for older adults with health issues or disabilities. The Center is dedicated to encouraging adults who have become isolated to reengage and connect to life in a safe, community environment while providing support to anyone assisting in caring for these adults. As Pals, we provide and attend monthly events to spread the appreciation of life for all individuals. These members in our community range in vast abilities, so it’s our honor to spend time with them.
